#MSDynGP The Knights of GP – Join the Fireside Chat

David Meego - Click for blog homepageI am finally getting back to work after travelling and presenting at Community Summit 2025 in Orlando and visiting family in the UK. Still got lots of tasks to catch up on but I wanted to write about the Knights of GP.

The Knights of GP is planned to be a community based co-op of customers, consultants, Independent Software Developers (ISVs) and partners who will work together after Microsoft stops supporting Microsoft Dynamics GP to allow the product to remain supported by the community who use and love it. Join us for the tomorrow’s Fireside Chat…

The Knights of GP is initially being driven by the Microsoft Dynamics GP focused and hosting partner, Njevity, the creators of the PowerGP Online solution and organizers of the best annual party at Community Summit. Winthrop Development Consultants is proud to involved in the Knights of GP co-op and also as a sponsor of the PowerGP Online party for the last few years.

Just before Summit, I wrote an article for the Fido magazine (released at Summit) that has my thoughts on what customers should be considering and some action items (regardless of the path forward). My article and the entire magazine are available for download from the link below.

Microsoft is planning to end support in December 2029 and security updates in 2031. Even if every GP customer decides to reimplement a new ERP today, there is not enough time and resources to complete the work before 2031.

Anecdotal evidence says that of the GP customers who are moving to other ERPs, only about 25% are going to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. If you are going to reimplement then it makes sense to go to market and review all the options available.

There are many GP customers who don’t want to go through an expensive, time consuming and risky reimplementation of an ERP system when there is nothing wrong with their existing GP system.

So, this is where the Knights of GP come into play. If you are interested in getting involved, please sign up for the mailing list:

With the Knights of GP helping to maintain GP after Microsoft, customers will be able to continue using GP and, if they wish, transition to another system ON THEIR OWN TIMELINE.

Many ISVs and partners have already given promises to continue support beyond 2031.

I also spoke with John Siefert, CEO of Dynamics Communities, and he said he will continue to support and include Microsoft Dynamics GP in the Summit Conference while the GP community wants it.

A final point, when the final build of GP is released 18.12, it will be compatible current version of SQL Server and Windows Server, and those platforms will both be supported for five to ten years by Microsoft.

[Edit] Below is the article from Njevity with the video recording from the Fireside Chat and a summary of the points mentioned.

Hope you find this information helpful.
