#GPPT GP Power Tools build 33.1 released

Winthrop Development Consultants is absolutely thrilled to announce that Build 33 of GP Power Tools (GPPT) for Microsoft Dynamics GP was released yesterday, on 01-May-2026.

This fantastic build includes not one, but two major new features that solve some highly demanded, long awaited functionality requests for Microsoft Dynamics GP. The build also includes many enhancements and improvements to existing functionality across the entire product.

This article provides details on the major new features and enhancements. It doesn’t list everything, but to give you an idea of how much has been added, the user guide manual has grown from 833 pages in build 31 to 882 pages in build 32 to 919 pages in build 33.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Support for build 29 and earlier has been discontinued. The final released build for each version of Microsoft Dynamics GP will not be discontinued. Sites running discontinued builds need to update before their subscriptions can be renewed. It is recommended that ALL sites update to the latest build to take advantage of the new features, enhancements and fixes.

Highlights of build 33 include:

Login Control: This new window adds four highly requested features; Logging of failed login attempts, a Lockout period after a number of failed login attempts, Multi-Factor Authentication using an Authenticator application and a One Time Password, and Single Sign On functionality to bypass the User Login window for domain users.
Custom Fields: This feature provides a dynamic and flexible method to add any custom field from a Custom SQL Table to any window of any product dictionary without needing any code or Modifier.
Resource Explorer Performance: All of the Resource Explorer windows have been optimized to improve performance and add a progress bar while loading, so the user can see progress when large resource lists are being loaded.
Form Control Extensions: Six new field level rules have been added to provide even more “no code/low code” functionality.

System Features Module

Changes to the System Features Module of GP Power Tools include the following:

Added Progress bars to Explorer window of Resource Explorer to show when the window is busy loading resource data.

Updated Resource Explorer Windows with performance enhancements for long loading processes.

Added check after Company Login to fix incorrect Currency View data in the MC_User_Preferences (MC40500) table depending on if the Multi-currency module is registered. see this article for more information.

Created GP POWER TOOLS SECURITY Security Role to give users with SQL Security Admin privileges access to Login Control and SQL Login Maintenance windows.

Fixed Microsoft Dynamics GP Bug on Customer Inquiry window where it produces error messages after the Customer ID field is manually cleared and the window restarts.

Updated Table Creation/Updating code to ensure only [dbo] schema is used by SQL Server scripts during the process.

Improved performance of Per User Settings windows throughout the entire product.

Administrator Tools Module

Changes to the Administrator Tools Module of GP Power Tools include the following:

Added New Add New Addon Product rule to the Launch File Configuration window to remove a .bak extension from an addin file to enable it.

Added New Remove Addon Product rule to the Launch File Configuration window to add an a .bak extension from an addin file to disable it.

Developer Tools Module

Changes to the Developer Tools Module of GP Power Tools include the following:

Updated Project Setup to add Visual Studio Integration Toolkit Custom Forms windows to the Options menu.

Updated Trigger Setup window so when entering a Form Name, the default values for Window Name and Table Name are populated automatically.

Updated Helper Functions window so when entering a Form Name, the default values for Window Name and Table Name are populated automatically.

Improved handling of List and SQL List Parameter List fields when using Data and String modes so that the MBS_Parameter_Set and MBS_Parameter_Get Helper Functions work correctly.

Updated Custom Table Setup window to allow Table Physical name to be renamed and the underlying custom SQL table to be recreated with the new physical name.

Updated Custom Table Setup window to warn when Table Physical Name has been used on other Custom Tables within the same system.

Updated Custom Table Setup window to warn when Column Data will be lost when a column is removed from the definition and it contains data.

Updated Custom Table Setup window when entering the Table Physical Name to check if a view of that name already exists.

Updated Custom Table automatic table updating to warn when Column Data will be lost when a column has been removed from the definition and it contains data.

Added Custom Fields Setup window to combine Custom Tables and Virtual Fields to allow fields from Custom Tables to be added to any window without requiring code or Modifier.

Added Helper Function MBS_Get_Window_Reference to make it easy to get a reference to a window when using Virtual Fields.

Added Helper Function MBS_Parameter_Set_List to support improved handling of List and SQL List Parameter List fields while not breaking the legacy method using MBS_Parameter_Set_Number.

Added Helper Function MBS_Parameter_Get_List to support improved handling of List and SQL List Parameter List fields while not breaking the legacy method using MBS_Parameter_Get_Number.

Updated Helper Functions window to add the MBS_RunApplication Helper function for launching external application or opening files with the default application for the file type.

Added Report Writer Functions RW_Buffer_Open, RW_Buffer_Key_Set and RW_Buffer_Field_Get for accessing Custom Table data on reports. Table Buffers must be enabled.

Added Report Writer Functions RW_Custom_Fields_Open, RW_Custom_Fields_Key_Set and RW_Custom_Fields_Field_Get for accessing Custom Table data used by Custom Fields on reports.

Added Report Writer Function RW_Custom_Fields_List_Value to retrieve string values for drop down lists and multi-select list boxes used in Custom Fields.

Form Control Module

Changes to the Form Control Tools Module of GP Power Tools include the following:

Added Set Field Tooltip rule to Form Control Module to allow changing or adding tooltips to fields.

Added Set Field Font Type rule to Form Control Module to allow changing of the font type and size used for fields.

Added Set Field Font Size rule to Form Control Module to allow changing of the font size for adjustable fonts for fields.

Added Set Field Font Style rule to Form Control Module to allow changing of the font style used for fields.

Added Set Field Position rule to Form Control Module to allow moving a field to absolute or relative position by pixel or grids.

Added Set Field Size rule to Form Control Module to allow resizing a field by absolute or relative size by pixel or grids.

Database Tools Module

Changes to the Database Tools Module of GP Power Tools include the following:

Added Login Control Window to provide Login Lockout and Login Multi Factor Authentication to Microsoft Dynamics GP. Added Multi Factor Authentication with a One Time Password and Single Sign On (Login Bypass) functionality using Remember User with randomized password.

Updated Database Validation to add precheck to Validate Button for Tables and Views containing spaces or periods as these can break processes during upgrades.
