Back in 2008, I posted an article where I showed you how I decorated cakes for my sons’ birthdays.
My eldest son’s Fiancée had seen this original article and requested a Capybara cake for her birthday this year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and very Happy New Year.
2025 has been another successful year. The community is coming to grips with Microsoft discontinuing support for Microsoft Dynamics GP but also working on initiatives such as the “Knights of GP” (a co-operative of customers, consultants, ISVs and partners who are planning to maintain GP after Microsoft).
At Winthrop Development Consultants, we spent many hours in development of our products including the GP Power Tools Build 32 release, which included many new features and enhancements across all the modules.

Winthrop Development Consultants is still fully committed to the Microsoft Dynamics GP product and its fantastic community. We continue to put a huge amount of effort into making the lives of the members of the GP Community easier, simpler and less stressful.
As part of this stress release effort and to help provide advanced networking opportunities, we are very proud to sponsor the PowerGP Online Party at Community Summit 2025 in Orlando, FL, USA.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and very Happy New Year.
2024 has been a successful, but challenging year. Here at Winthrop Development Consultants, we spent 6 months working hard and finally creating the dream of “No Code/Low Code” customization across the entire Microsoft Dynamics GP product, as well as Virtual Fields.
The result was GP Power Tools Build 31 including the new Form Control module which was released in August. Then, just one month later Microsoft announced the End of Support dates for Dynamics GP.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
I hope you have all had a wonderful Holiday season so far and have taken some time off from work and are spending it with your family and friends.
As 2023 draws to a close, I am very happy with how the year has treated Winthrop Development Consultants. We released new builds of all our products with some great new features and had a very successful trip to the USA for Community Summit, which included receiving a GPUG All Star Award for 2023 and the Community Summit Legends Award.

British comedian Bill Bailey has created a fantastic series of four episodes showing the wonders of Western Australia to the world.
Bill Bailey explores the massive Australian State of Western Australia. Vast and epic, its frontier spirit inspires a mind-blowing journey into one of the sparsest and most surprising places on the planet.

This mathematics problem has been going around the internet recently and most of the answers I have seen for it published in comments, blogs and videos are actually incorrect. While the equation is stated in a deliberately ambiguous way, it can only have one correct answer and that is not the answer that most of the articles and videos provide.

This is the first Firday Funny post for a while and the first for the year 2023.
While visiting my eldest son in Canberra over Christmas and New Year, he showed me some of comedian, actor, filmmaker and songwriter Bo Burnham’s videos on YouTube and Netflix.
One in particular was really funny while still being safe enough to post on my blog….
This year has been a good year for Winthrop Development Consultants. We have been able to release awesome new builds of our products, write lots of interesting blog articles and share many GP Power Tools sample projects.
This year also marked the return to the conference circuit with David spending a very busy two weeks in Orlando for Community Summit 2022.

This is an off-topic post, but something that the members of the cycling community who use Garmin Edge cycle computers would find useful.
While exploring the file system of my Garmin Edge 830 device I stumbled across a method of displaying a custom start up message which I have used to display my details as owner and my wife’s details as an emergency contact.

It has been a while since I have posted a Friday Funny, so here is my latest fun find for you.
Fellow Microsoft MVP Mark Rendle presented this great session at the NDC Conference in Oslo, Norway in 2021 about his personal quest to design the worst programming language ever!
After watching the video with laughter, shock and horror I had to share it with you.

May the Fourth Be With You …. Always.
Happy Star Wars Day everyone. Today, I have a treat for you, it dates back to 2017 so you might have seen it before. It is the culmination of five years work by the team from Palette-Swap Ninja who have taken the classic Beatles album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and merged it with the original Star Wars movie “Episode IV: A New Hope” to create the best fan made musical parody of Star Wars ever.

For this week’s Friday Funny we are going to see how people interpret the Order of Operations rules that they should have been taught at school. Most people know a mnemonic to help remember the basic rules, the actual mnemonic depends on whether you say Brackets or Parentheses, whether you say Indices, Exponents or Orders, and whether you put Multiplication or Division next.
Regardless of which terminology and mnemonic you use, they do not cover all situations as the following example demonstrates:
