Merry Christmas 2014 and a Happy New Year 2015

David Meego - Click for blog homepageIt is that time of year again and hasn’t it arrived quickly. I have been independent as Winthrop Development Consultants for 2 months now and been having a great time.

My trip to the USA for the reIMAGINE 2014 conference in Fargo, ND and to visit family in Florida was fantastic. I have been working on getting all my business processes organised and have been developing my standard template dictionary.

Customising the Company Login window series – Visual Studio Tools revisited – Visual Basic .Net

David Meego - Click for blog homepageFollowing on from my last post, Customising the Company Login window series – Visual Studio Tools revisited – Visual C#, where I completed the Customising the Company Login window customisation using Visual Studio and Visual C#, I wanted to create the same example using Visual Basic .Net.

Thanks to Tim Wappat from the Dynamic Coding Blocks blog for his post which helped me get past the issues I was having accessing the Continuum Integration Library:

Sydney Siege Ends but Mateship triumphs #SydneySiege

David Meego - Click for blog homepageI am sure you have heard about the Sydney Siege yesterday.

What is more interesting to me is the response of everyday Australians to the threat of terrorism and why it won’t work in Australia.

Even though there was a media blackout to prevent the lone gunman getting any information of what was happening outside, the news of yesterday’s hostage situation at the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place in Sydney’s central business district went global.

Customising the Company Login window series – Visual Studio Tools revisited – Visual C#

David Meego - Click for blog homepageJust before I left Microsoft, I was writing a series of blog articles about Customising the Company Login window so that you could see the full company name in the drop down list for long company names.

I had shown how to achieve the customisation with Dexterity and with Visual Basic for Applications, but was having problems getting it to work from Visual Studio Tools.

#reIMAGINE2014 – Wrap Up

David Meego - Click for blog homepagereIMAGINE2014

As has become tradition, here is the wrap up post for the Microsoft reIMAGINE 2014 conference hosted by Dynamic Partner Connections.

I had a great time at the conference in Fargo, North Dakota, USA and visiting family in Florida, USA on the way home. The future for Microsoft Dynamics GP looks bright with the upcoming GP 2015 release and with the vision for the later releases.

The conference was a fantastic opportunity for me to let the Microsoft Dynamics GP partner community know that I was back out on my own as Winthrop Development Consultants and was available to assist with their development, consulting and training needs. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything.

#reIMAGINE2014 – Getting Home

David Meego - Click for blog homepagereIMAGINE2014

The conference was over and I had said goodbye to all my friends. This is a sad time as I am not sure when I will see them again. I have decided to make sure that I will attend the partner conference for next year (reIMAGINE 2015?). I am yet to decide if I can afford the time and costs to attend Convergence and/or GPUG Summit. Let me know if you have an opinion on whether I should attend one or the other, or both.

Now my trip home this time is going to take a lot longer than any of my previous trips. My father lives in England, but has an apartment in Florida and when I mentioned to him that I would be in the USA for the reIMAGINE 2014 conference, he mentioned that he would be in Florida at the same time and that I should come and visit. So I adjusted my itinerary to spend a few days in Pompano Beach, Florida before returning to Perth, Australia.
