GP Power Tools build 30.2 added a feature to check the installed SQL Server version against the minimum supported version, as per the published System Requirements for Microsoft Dynamics GP, and will warn on login if the version of SQL Server does not meet the minimum system requirements.
An example of the warning dialog is shown below:
GP Power Tools: Microsoft Dynamics GP version 18.07 requires Microsoft SQL Server 2017 (version 14.00) however Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (version 13.00) is installed. Please notify your Administrator.
This warning is showing up more frequently now that Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.7 dropped support for Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (version 13.00) and GP Power Tools Build 31.4 was updated to reflect this.
The recommended solution to remove the warning is to upgrade the SQL Server version to meet the minimum requirements for Microsoft Dynamics GP.
Until that time, the warning can be disabled from the Usability tab (second tab) of the Administrator Settings window.
Disabling the dialog does not fix the issue, it just hides the fact that the Microsoft Dynamics GP system is running on an unsupported Microsoft SQL Server version. While it is unlikely that this will cause any issues, this combination of Dynamics GP application and SQL Server has not been tested by Microsoft.
Remember to enable the option again after upgrading Microsoft SQL Server.
Note: When upgrading Microsoft SQL Server, you can use GP Power Tools Database Validation to recreate all the logins on the new version of SQL Server, AND if the SQL Server keeps the same machine name, you can recreate the logins using the previous encrypted passwords for all users (after they have been exported using Database Validation before upgrading SQL Server).
