Cancelling the Community Leader Zone

David Meego - Click for blog homepageFollowing on from the article I posted in July: Introducing the Community Leader Zone, I am sad to announce that the project has been cancelled.

Last Friday, I received an email from the Technical Communities alias at Microsoft notifying me of the cancellation of the project.  I have included the email below so you can see what it said.

Here is the email:

Hi David,

Thank you for expressing interest in the Community Leader Zone project by signing up for early access. We know that you were anticipating the upcoming release of the Community Leader Zone website this fall. Unfortunately, we have decided that our current release plans were not aligned with Microsoft goals for successful offline technical community engagement and we have decided to terminate the current project.

Community engagement is still a top priority for us. We will continue to work together with you to engage thousands of worldwide meetups and offline events with Microsoft technologies.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reply to techcoms@microsoft.com.

Thanks,

Microsoft Communities Team

Can’t say that I am not disappointed.

David

    David,

    >> Can’t say that I am not disappointed. <<

Lots of negations/negatives, there! Reminds me of the old Bloom County comic strip. Milo calls Senator Bedfellow from the news desk of the Bloom Beacon:

Milo: Did you say, quote, 'I paid them 50 grand to sink Hoffa in the Potomac?'
    Bedfellow: WHAT?!
Milo: Then you don't deny ever saying that?
    Bedfellow: YES!
Milo: Then you admit confirming not denying you ever said that?
Bedfellow: NO!… I mean YES! WHAT?
    Milo: I'll put 'Maybe.'
