David Meego - Click for blog homepageOn the 14th November 2017, a new build of Visual Studio Integration Toolkit was released to coincide with Winthrop Development Consultants taking back distribution of the product from Mekorma.

This new build, dated 14-Nov-2017, includes a new registration system which allows partners and customers to register the product for free without needing to contact anyone in advance to obtain a licence. However, if the registration is already recorded on the registration server, the keys are automatically populated.

The build also includes the ability to let the administrator user know if an update for the code has been released.

The Batch Posting Service Toolkit provides service procedures to retrieve a list of Batch Numbers for a specified Batch Source and to post the batch for a specified Batch Source and Batch Number.

Use the tool to post newly integrated transaction batches real time using calls from Dexterity, Visual Studio Tools or as a Service Based Architecture (SBA) Web Service (for v14.0 or later).

A user of the system had made changes to a customer’s credit limit without permission and the financial controller wanted to be notified if this ever happened again.

A hotfix for GP Power Tools Build 22 was released on 19-Jun-2017. This release shows as Last Modified: 19-Jun-2017 on the About GP Power Tools window and the installer version is XX.00.0022.7.

David Meego - Click for blog homepageLast week, I wrote about a situation which was causing issues with the Database Validation feature of GP Power Tools. Triggers on the ACTIVITY table that fired when records are deleted that attempt to clean up data in the company that the record is related to.

The problem is that if the current user does not have access to this company or company database does not exist or is not online, errors are generated and the code fails. This is discussed in my blog:

David Meego - Click for blog homepageFollowing on from my recent article, #GPPT Adding Vendor Item Number to SOP Documents, I thought it would be worth showing how we can use GP Power Tools custom Report Writer RW functions with a SQL Query to obtain any data available from any table on the SQL Server.

To make this happen we are going to combine the Runtime Execute Setup custom RW function code with a SQL script created in SQL Execute Setup. Note that these techniques, which have been available since June 2009, are completely Web Client compatible which makes them even more valuable now.

David Meego - Click for blog homepageIn my previous post, RW: Using the rw_TableLineString() and rw_TableLineCurrency() Report Writer functions, I mentioned the six report writer functions which can be used by developers to get custom data onto reports.

GP Power Tools takes advantage of these functions to allow the creation of custom Report Writer RW functions. In fact, this custom report writer function feature has been available since the release of the Support Debugging Tool build 11 in June 2009.

GP Power Tools was previously known as Support Debugging Tool (SDT), which was discontinued in October 2014. If you are still using the previous product, please upgrade to the supported and much better GP Power Tools product.
