#Robotics Lego Spike Prime Robots for Rescue Line and Rescue Maze

David Meego - Click for blog homepageA couple of years ago I created some videos showing how to use the Lego Spike Prime set to build robots for the Robocup Junior Australia Rescue Line and Rescue Maze challenges.

This article is just to make them easier to find from David’s Robotics Portal.

The videos are built with only the parts in the standard educational Lego Spike Prime set. The only exception is that the Rescue Line robots have an additional Light Sensor.

[Edit] Damien Murtagh took the designs and created them on Bricklink’s Studio designer software and used that to create step by step instructions which can be used along with the videos.

Please note that these are reference designs only and that students are expected to make their own robots and not just copy these designs.

Rescue Line (Primary)

The first video shows how to make a Primary Rescue Line robot.

Rescue Line (Secondary)

The second video shows how to add a simple claw mechanism to turn the Primary Rescue Line robot into a Secondary Rescue Line robot.

Note: As the Spike Prime hub only has six ports, adding the claw means you will need to use the ultrasonic sensor instead of the touch sensor for detecting obstacles.

Rescue Maze

This third video shows how to create a Rescue Maze robot suitable for the new Mighty Maisy Maze division.

Hope you find these videos helpful but remember that you should be creating your own designs for the competitions.

[Edit] Thanks to Damien Murtagh (also a volunteer for Robocup Junior Australia) for creating the models, images and instructions using Studio 2.0 from Bricklink.
