Back in 1998 when I was experimenting with Cross Dictionary Dexterity Development in version 4.00 and version 5.00, I was contacted by Dave Gaboury from Great Plains in Fargo. He was currently developing cross dictionary triggers for Dexterity 5.10 and wanted my feedback and help testing the new Trigger_ Function Library commands he had created. This was the start of my friendship with Dave Gaboury…. one of the fathers of Dexterity, and hence Dynamics.

Hi, I am Brian Roney, a software development lead on Microsoft Dynamics GP.  I have been working on the GP product since 1996 when I was an intern at Great Plains Software. I have mainly focused my development in the system area of GP.  Currently I am helping lead the development activities of the Web Client project. Outside of Microsoft I have 2 daughters, ages 5 and 1, that keep me busy riding bikes, swimming, coloring and building sandcastles.  I also enjoy watching American football (Go Packers!!), fishing, archery and hanging out at the lake and campfires with family and friends.

Yesterday, on Thursday 16th June, the Australian Business Register (ABR) updated their website which meant the link that Microsoft Dynamics GP has been using to lookup Australian Business Numbers (ABN) no longer works. This morning, I had two support cases on this issue raised within about 30 minutes of each other.

Update: The Australian Business Register (ABR) team have added a URL redirection to allow the old URL to work. Microsoft will be looking to change the way the search is performed to use Web Services in a future release.

Now that Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 has been released, the pundits and speculators are starting to focus on the next version of Microsoft Dynamics GP, codenamed GP “12”.

There have already been mention of some of the cool architecture changes coming with the mention of the GP “12” Web Client and with screenshots from the live demonstration of the early web client code.

It has been brought to my notice that we have another issue with a dictionary adding records to the syMenuMstr (SY07110) table each time a user logs into Microsoft Dynamics GP.  This issue is caused by the new Dynamics Online Services dictionary which was installed as part of Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 5 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 Service Pack 1.  This is similar to the Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 5 Login Performance issue found previously.

Back on the 1st July 2000, Australia changed its sales tax system from a wholesale sales tax with various rates (depending on the item) to a Goods and Services Tax (GST) with a fixed 10% rate.

To go with the change in the tax system, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) also brought in a new tax return reporting system known as the Business Activity Statement.

It has come to our notice that there is an issue where the Analytical Accounting dictionary for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 5 is adding 4 records to the syMenuMstr table every time the Microsoft Dynamics GP application is launched.
