For the last 25 years or so, questions have been asked about the future of Microsoft Dynamics GP. I partially based my decision to leave Winthrop Dexterity Consultants in 2000 to become a Microsoft employee because of the “imminent demise” of Dynamics GP.

Fourteen years later, when I left Microsoft and started Winthrop Development Consultants, Microsoft Dynamics GP was still well and truly alive and going strong.

#MySummitNA Winthrop Development Consultants at Community Summit Charlotte 2023

In just over three weeks my wife, Jennifer, and I will be flying from Perth via Sydney and Dallas/Fort Worth to Charlotte, North Carolina, USA for two weeks at the Community Summit 2023 conference.

During the first week (Monday 9^th to Friday 13^th October 2023), I will be running Dexterity Fundamentals training at the JW Marriott hotel. Then on Sunday 15^th October, I will be running Academy training for GP Power Tools.

#GPPT GP Power Tools Training at Community Summit 2023 in Charlotte, NC, USA

I am pleased to announce that as well as the Dexterity Training (during the week before the conference), there will also be GP Power Tools training offered at Academy at Summit in the days before Community Summit in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

The training will be presented as a single full day course on Sunday 15^th October 2023, running from 8:00am to 5:00pm with lunch included.

We always have lots of new functionality and enhancements to cover with the release the latest builds of GP Power Tools.

#Dexterity Announcing Dexterity Training before Community Summit 2023 in Charlotte, NC, USA

As is becoming a tradition, I will once again be running the 5-day Dexterity training class in the week before the Community Summit conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA in October. Please register for the training now and plan to be in Charlotte for the week before the conference.

Dexterity is the development environment that Microsoft Dynamics GP is built on and the best tool to use for any customization to the user interface of the product. Knowledge of Dexterity is vital for anyone customizing Dynamics GP even when using other development tools such as GP Power Tools – Developer Tools module, Visual Studio Tools (C# or VB .Net) or “End of Life” VBA (Visual Basic for Application).

The next installment of DynamicsCon conference is scheduled for 15^th to 16^th March 2023. The session submission period is over and now we enter the session voting period until 27^th January 2023.

During this voting period all registered attendees have 8 votes to apply to sessions as they wish, then the votes will be tallied and the final session lists published. See this explanation for more details of the process.

#MySummitNA Clarification of Microsoft Dynamics GP Lifecycle

Mike Morton (Vice President, Dynamics 365 Business Central at Microsoft) has clarified the Microsoft Dynamics GP Lifecycle after his comments at the GP General Session during the Community Summit 2022 conference.

Dynamics GP’s lifecycle is still 2028 and beyond and does include new features as well as tax, compliance and security updates. Since GP is a mature and stable product, don’t expect large new features or new modules. The large ISV community will continue to develop additional functionality to make GP a viable system for many years to come. Continue reading →

Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.5 – October 2022 has released

The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP was released today, and it contains a number of new features and bug fixes. Winthrop Development Consultants has already updated its products for this Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.5 – October 2022 release. They are now built against the final build and so are no longer beta builds.

#SummitNA Winthrop Development Consultants at Community Summit Orlando 2022

This Friday, I will start my flights to the USA to get to Community Summit 2022 in Orlando. I will be flying to Singapore first and then getting on the world’s longest flight: Singapore Airlines from Singapore to New York with a flight time of 18 hours and 25 minutes.

For the first week I will be staying at the Caribe Royale hotel while I am running a 5-day Dexterity Fundamentals Bootcamp training course. Then during the Community Summit 2022 Conference being held on October 10-13, 2022, I will be at the Gaylord Palms Resort, Kissimmee, Orlando, Florida, USA.

My friend, Tim Wappat from the UK, will be helping me out at the Winthrop Development Consultants booth in the Expo Hall. Please come see us at Booth 829. Read on for more information on the two training classes and six sessions I am presenting.
