Winthrop Development Consultants is pleased to announce Build 17 of Visual Studio Integration Toolkit (VSIT) for Microsoft Dynamics GP was released on 10-Aug-2022.
This build includes a number of enhancements as well as improvements to the registration and installer systems.
We had another interesting support case recently where administrator users were getting slow login performance after installing a Winthrop Development Consultants product. When a standard user logged in they did not experience any delays.
The additional delay was around 90 to 120 seconds, after which everything would appear to work as normal.
This week we had a customer contact us after they changed the Proxy Settings which are part of the Registration System in all Winthrop Development Consultants products. After the change Microsoft Dynamics GP would crash on startup, probably because the settings were incorrect.
These settings should not normally be used as the Winthrop Development Consultants registration system (which uses Quick License Manager from Soraco Technologies) can normally work with the same internet connection as needed for standard web browsing.
Over the last few days I have received a number of requests for clarification of the status of Winthrop Development Consultants’ products and whether they are at risk from the Java Log4J vulnerability that has been in the news recently.

The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP was released yesterday and it contains many new features and bug fixes. Winthrop Development Consultants has already updated its products for this Microsoft Dynamics GP – October 2021 release. They are now built against the final build and so are no longer beta builds (except for GP Power Tools which has a new build 29 coming soon).

This morning (Perth Time) I had an email from Terry Heley from Microsoft with a link to a pre-release (very early alpha) of the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics GP version 18.4 (October 2021) release. This download is provided to the ISV community to help them prepare for the final code when it is released.
A number of fixes and enhancements have been made to Visual Studio Integration Toolkit, so along with the release of the latest GP Power Tools 28.5 hotfix, we are releasing a hotfix for Visual Studio Integration Toolkit.
It is recommended that all sites running Visual Studio Integration Toolkit install the latest code on all workstation and servers where it is currently installed.

We are pleased to announce that the Benefits Presentation for Winthrop Development Consultants products has been updated to match the recently released builds of GP Power Tools (GPPT), Batch Posting Service Toolkit (BPST) and Visual Studio Integration Toolkit (VSIT).
Last Friday Terry Heley from the Microsoft Dynamics GP support and services team in Fargo, North Dakota emailed out a download of the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics GP release to the ISV (Independent Software Developer) community.
This “ISV Drop” is an early build which allows developers to start preparing to support the next version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. It give the GP developer community time to set up their development tools and environments for the new version.

The release of Build 15 of the free product Visual Studio IntegrationToolkit is a bonus to Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP developers around the globe.

This build incorporates the first major enhancements to the toolkit since it was first released. There has been a month’s worth of development, testing and documentation go into this build with a number of enhancements to the menu navigation functionality as well as an entire new module of helper functions.
Selling GP Power Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP has always been an interesting affair. If you can get a customer to sit and watch a demo (live or on video from the GPPT Portal), they immediately see the benefits and want the product. However, it is usually the people who work with the product day to day who see the demo and then they find it hard to sell to management.
If you are using GP Power Tools, Batch Posting Service Toolkit, or Visual Studio Integration Toolkit and are having registration issues there is most probably a very simple solution.
