With changes coming to the Microsoft Dynamics GP support and consulting landscape, it is increasingly important to build “in-house” knowledge and skills so you can support and maintain your customizations.

GP Power Tools 20^th Anniversary Special Deal

30^th August 2026 marked the 20^th Anniversary of GP Power Tools. As part of the celebration of what has become the “go to” tool for supporting, administering and developing for Microsoft Dynamics GP, we are offering a special deal to all sites (new and existing) that purchase a subscription to the entire suite (including the “Sweet” Suite Discount).

Changes to Visual Studio Integration Toolkit subscriptions

For almost 20 years Visual Studio Integration Toolkit (VSIT) has been provided at no charge. This has been David Musgrave’s personal gift to the Microsoft Dynamics GP community. Starting for 2027 subscriptions it has become necessary to charge a small fee to be able to continue support and development of this tool.

This change means that customers and partners will be receiving Renewal Notice emails and Invoices (via PayPal) for a product that has not been charged for previously.

Knights of GP Pre-Summit Rally Day

As part of our commitment to Microsoft Dynamics GP product and its community we have joined the Preferred ISVs as part of the Knights of GP. The Knights of GP is a growing, community-led initiative bringing Dynamics GP users, ISVs, consultants, and advocates together to shape what comes next.

SQL Server 2025 Performance Issues

Just in case you missed the article published on the Knights of GP blog and the Winthrop Development Consultants blog, there is a known performance issue with SQL Server 2025 and the default method used for logging in via SQL Authentication. The impact can vary greatly depending on which products are installed and how much customization exists. If a product or customization opens and closes SQL connections on demand, it can run significantly slower on SQL Server 2025.

Update to the latest Product Builds

Please make sure that you always keep your Winthrop products updated to the latest builds available for your version of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

This is vital because old builds are missing the new features, enhancements, and fixes that your subscriptions entitle you to receive. In some cases, old builds are discontinued and can no longer be registered. Check your systems and update early to avoid any disruption of service.

In particular, Visual Studio Integration Toolkit running on Microsoft Dynamics GP v18.2 or later MUST be updated to Build 20.2 or later (Build 21 preferred) to support the subscription model changes and stay functional.
