Friday Funny: Can you solve this simple puzzle
Recently a puzzle has been doing the rounds on the Book of Face and I thought it would be good to test how quickly my readers could solve it. It is probably an oldie, but it is a goodie.
The puzzle is the Car Park Puzzle where you have to work out the missing number for the bay where the car is.
Can you work out the missing number in the sequence 16, 06, 68, 88, X, 98?
Please don’t post the answer in the comments, just let me know how long it took you to solve the puzzle.
Have Fun.
David
PS: I might post the answer at some time in the future…. or I may not. 🙂

that was / is / a great brain tease – took me longer to read the article than to solve – thanks for the fun.
Took me 4,5 second..
Beat, I said not to post the answer…. I had to edit your comment. Naughty, Naughty. 🙂
Took me 4, 5 seconds. I must be a kid 🙂
i got it. Increasing serial subtraction back-flushed from the final number.
Yep, I am too old to get this one. I donât have any youngsters around here to test the theory.

Took me 4,5 seconds as well. I think the trick is stated on the problem itself. To think like a kid…we adults tend to overthink too much, haha…
It took me about 1 minute…good thing I regularly have my grandkids around…I just said to myself “What would Mallory do?” (She’s 5) Haha!
It’s 89
Hi Shweta. No, the missing number is not 89. 🙂
Sequence is a decoy, answer is in the picture. Beautiful. And, If I may point out, seems that sequence doesn’t have the answer. But parking space does have the number :).
Is 128 ???
Hi Sam. The answer is not 128.
its 87
Are you sure it is not L8?
Hahaha nice one. Technically the answer is it could be 87 or L8… it all depends whether you’re looking at the picture normally or rotate it 180 degrees 😉
Now I understand why a young kid can solve this quickly while an adult can’t. I was too focused on the numbers trying to find some complex mathematical pattern to solve it and wasted a lot of time doing so. Meanwhile all I had to do was think like a kid and turn the image upside down so I was looking at the parking bays like a driver would when they drove into one. Then the answer became obvious. Sigh…
