You might have heard about the “announcement” made by Mike Morton (Vice President, Dynamics 365 Business Central and SMB, Microsoft) during the Microsoft Dynamics GP General Session and his subsequent retraction and clarification.
I decided to write this article to provide my thoughts on what happened and the bigger issues it raises.
I am currently taking a little break from work, visiting family in the UK, after a ridiculously busy two weeks in Orlando for Community Summit 2022.
I had a fantastic time in the US and thoroughly enjoyed meeting with all my friends, old and new, in the Microsoft Dynamics GP community.
Mike Morton (Vice President, Dynamics 365 Business Central at Microsoft) has clarified the Microsoft Dynamics GP Lifecycle after his comments at the GP General Session during the Community Summit 2022 conference.
Dynamics GP’s lifecycle is still 2028 and beyond and does include new features as well as tax, compliance and security updates. Since GP is a mature and stable product, don’t expect large new features or new modules. The large ISV community will continue to develop additional functionality to make GP a viable system for many years to come.
The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP was released today, and it contains a number of new features and bug fixes. Winthrop Development Consultants has already updated its products for this Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.5 – October 2022 release. They are now built against the final build and so are no longer beta builds.

This Friday, I will start my flights to the USA to get to Community Summit 2022 in Orlando. I will be flying to Singapore first and then getting on the world’s longest flight: Singapore Airlines from Singapore to New York with a flight time of 18 hours and 25 minutes.
For the first week I will be staying at the Caribe Royale hotel while I am running a 5-day Dexterity Fundamentals Bootcamp training course. Then during the Community Summit 2022 Conference being held on October 10-13, 2022, I will be at the Gaylord Palms Resort, Kissimmee, Orlando, Florida, USA.
My friend, Tim Wappat from the UK, will be helping me out at the Winthrop Development Consultants booth in the Expo Hall. Please come see us at Booth 829. Read on for more information on the two training classes and six sessions I am presenting.
David Musgrave MVP is coming to Community Summit 2022 in Orlando and will be running two training courses for GP users, administrators, consultants and developers.
The first is a 5 day Dexterity bootcamp, before the conference, which will teach you how to get started with Dexterity, the development tool used to create Microsoft Dynamics GP.
The second is a single day class on GP Power Tools, covering all modules of the product.
